Within the school there are a number of pupil/ teacher committees who work to make a positive contribution to the life and work of the school.

Charities Group

Our charities group work with Mrs Peters and Mrs Milgrew. During Lent they invited Helen and Frank Deasey, who volunteer with Mary’s Meals, to a school assembly. These volunteers told us about the life saving work of Mary’s Meals and explained that it only cost 7p to provide a meal for a child. The children decided to set a fund-raising target and hoped to raise enough to feed 500 children. To help raise money, the charities group organised a wonderful World Book Day event with staff and children dressing up as their favourite characters. This event raised £200!

Pupil Council

The Pupil Council meet regularly with Mrs McGill to share the views of all pupils in the school. Supported by Mr Hood, Miss Meechan and Mrs McCondichie the Pupil Council successfully organised a number of events and activities including Christmas and Valentine's Discos and an Easter Egg Raffle which sold an amazing 1286 tickets. This raised £257.25 bringing the total amount raised during Lent to £557.25. Our school had aimed to feed 500 children but the money raised meant we will be able to feed 7960 children!

Eco- Committee

Our Eco Committee work with Mrs Doyle, Mrs Ellis, Miss Jones, Miss McNulty and Mrs Soutar. This group have been very busy and organised a whole school poster competition to raise awareness of key eco themes. Primary 1 and primary 2 worked on Litter Awareness, primary 3 and primary 4 designed posters to highlight Recycling and primaries 5, 6 and 7 looked at Saving Energy.
The posters are on display through-out the school and the lucky winners received prizes which included seeds and bedding plants which they then planted in the school grounds.
The children of the Eco group have also started a series of visits to the local Community Garden. The children will be learning about planting, harvesting crops and garden maintenance.

Health Committee

The Health Committee supported by Mrs Finlayson and Mrs Wilson organised a whole school Sponsored Health and Fitness Event on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th March 2018.
Pupils met with Andrew Bannerman our Active Schools Coordinator to plan a fun-filled day of scooting, skipping and an exciting obstacle course. This sponsored event raised an amazing £1900 and the children have been meeting to discuss what they will purchase with their money. Items being considered include a set of school scooters to boost fitness. The group also decided to give a donation to Mary’s Meals.
